The True Potential of the People in Cubicles: A Satire

While the Statue of Liberty stands tall in the open beside the Hudson River, there is a tendency for people to flock to the cubicles. It so seems that power, peace, and prosperity are all in the corporate cubicles and behind glass doors. Although people take pride in getting segregated in the cubicles, I feel it’s a novel way to isolate people’s stupidity, lest their brains get contaminated. But the bosses don’t understand this underlying intention. They take pride in being isolated in the cabins and cubicles. They feel their social prestige gets a boost if they are in a cubicle rather than in a common space. This is the subtle relationship between space and power that people most often misinterpret.

Then there are rooms with glass doors. These are the places reserved for even more incompetent people. These are not the people who are born smart. They are the kind of people who are born dumb, and these ninnies are made to believe the more intelligent you are, the more isolated you should be. They believe isolation breeds power.

They end up in isolated glass chambers away from the maddening crowd only to conserve their stupidity.  The paradox is, that these folks consider themselves very intelligent or rather the most intelligent of the lot. Some consider themselves the most intelligent on the planet and so they are unique as homo sapiens. They deny the fact that we are all stupid by nature and intelligence is just a faculty like that of the olfactory function. They ignore the fact that intelligence endowed by nature is to make us feel we are self-reliant in this world of natural stupidity.

Work Jokes for a workplace

These bunch of clowns feel they are so intelligent that they are self-sufficient, and their exceptional qualities need conservation. This vanity makes them more imbecile than they really are and for the conservation of Karma, they are imprisoned behind the glass doors. The irony is that they don’t realize this in their lifetime. On the contrary, the paradox is as they become more isolated, their pay cheques become fatter. This renders these folks a sense of complacency based on the perceived value of their talents. In reality, they get their share of the incompetence bonus as they seem to be more intelligent in this seemingly stupid world.

The Funniest Comics About Remote Work Life

Remember those days when we had a workstation at home? A computer/laptop table with a chair plowed against the wall, an LED light on one corner, sufficient space to keep our water bottle, a pen stand on the extreme right corner, and probably a post-it on the other.

Yeah, that’s the spot we would probably be glued to for a couple of hours after work at night. Most of us either studied or flipped through the pages of our favorite novel. It was where we spent some ‘Me time’ doing the things we love.

Thanks to 2020, the scenario changed, for good or bad. (You decide for yourself.) The workstation is no longer only a workstation and is not the only place in the house where we spend 10-plus hours daily.

Whether it has been a pleasant shift or not is up for discussion, the world of humor certainly witnessed a gush of funny WFH comics. From Zoom meeting comics to the reality of being cramped up in our houses for months together, office humor experienced a 180-degree shift, and you and I were significant parts of it.

The funny WFH comics broke cultural and geographical barriers and brought people together. Shared laughter created a virtual bond and erased the vacuum of physical distance. Let’s look at some of the most common work from scenarios we have experienced, at least once.

We assure you these comics will resonate with everyone, from the new intern to CEO. So, here we go!

The ‘heart-fail’ moment at 8:59 a.m.

You could hate working from home for any reason, but waking up late was probably one of the few perks that it gave us. Right from sleeping late to knowing we could wake up exactly 1 minute before the login time gave each one of us a moment of relief. But, for some of us, that also was a bit of a struggle. We mean, who wants to wake up even at 8:59 a.m. right?

The Zoom call disasters.

Honestly, we could have a separate blog on our Zoom calls experience alone, isn’t it? Norman, a Project Manager at Norman and Ozi had one of the funniest moments on a Zoom call. While he was presenting a meeting on a million-dollar project, his cat happened to jump on the keyboard. The cat managed to flip the tabs on the laptop and opened to YouTube where was secretly also watching tutorials on ‘20 different lies to use with Boss’. Poor Norman, right?

In another instance, Subbu is our Technical Head at Norman and Ozi. He comes with at least a decade of experience but what we witnessed during one of the ‘Work From Home’ phases showed his true colors. While sharing his screen, Subbu accidentally revealed his Amazon shopping cart full of snacks.

The Lunch Break Episode

The most auspicious break for an employee during WFH is the lunch break. If you are somebody who lives with family and friends, then you are probably sorted for lunch. However, for those who live alone, it is a bit of a struggle. For one, there is no cafeteria and hence the options are fewer, resulting in not-so-memorable lunches.

Our employee, Rick, in his effort to multitask, ended up burning his food. Most often, his go-to option was an omelet but in the middle of replying to an email, he would burn his omelet. While he ordered home delivery on some days, our average-salaried Rick realized he couldn’t take this long any further. So, he came back to his ‘burnt omelets’.

The Afternoon Slump

The post-lunch hours are hard, we all know! Especially when it is working from home, our bed pulls us toward it even harder. Usually at this time, our workstations are surrounded by empty coffee cups with us yawning at our laptops. On some days, Nathan, our diligent hardworking employee would lie on the floor with his laptop in an effort to find a comfortable position. Mira, on the other hand, would actually sleep on the bed, make her pillow her laptop desk, and work while she lays on her stomach.

Work-from-home taught us the art of balancing work and home. Some of us never learned it, though! With this blog, we tried to show the journey of the employees of Norman and Ozi. We hope this brought back some of the memories of you
